for the work of the University Clinic for Blood Group Serology and Transfusion Medicine and was shaped by the efforts of all its employees to drive forward a process of constant improvements in all areas for which they are responsible.

Our Tasks
Our tasks are immunohematological diagnostics, donor blood collection, preparation of blood and blood components, and to ensure that they are safe to use and that they are used correctly. We use quality-assured serological, molecular-biological, cellular and analytical processes in order to guarantee the safety of our products and test results, and of the treatment strategies that are derived from them. As a University Clinic of the Karl-Franzens University, we also carry out teaching and research in the specialty area of Blood Group Serology and Transfusion Medicine.
People are at the center of our care, tasks, and interests: whether as patients, recipients or donors of blood and blood components, or persons needing specialist advice. We play our part in ensuring the supply of blood products in Styria and we guarantee the product quality and the accuracy of immunohematological diagnosis. We serve the interests of our patients and donors through our specialist advice, which we make available around the clock to everyone who wishes to send us a sample or use our products.
By recognising personal achievement and by structuring and supporting opportunities for professional advancement we aim to maintain and improve the job satisfaction and motivation of our employees.
We serve the interests of the bodies legally responsible for our work through responsible behaviour, provision of specialist expertise, attention to economic factors, and fulfilment of our legal responsibilities. We work hard to offer our students and other trainees an up-to-date and practically oriented curriculum and to present it in an understandable and efficient manner.
