Important Questions Before and After Giving Birth
Having a baby is one of the nicer reasons for going to hospital. We do our best to make sure that mothers-to-be feel comfortable, to ensure a family-friendly atmosphere and to make all aspects of the birth as pleasant as possible.
Services
The maternity (obstetrics) departments in the Regional Hospitals aim to guarantee the highest levels of safety and high medical standards. Prenatal services range from ultrasound examinations or color Doppler sonography to specialized genetic tests.
In the various maternity units we offer a wide range of different options for a relaxed and individual delivery. Several different delivery positions are available: delivery bed, delivery stool, delivery mat, Seilsprossenwand, Roma birthing wheel, delivery in water. You can find out which options are available at a particular Regional Hospital on the hospital’s homepage or by contacting the department of gynecology and obstetrics.

Prenatal Training
Prenatal training courses teach you relaxation techniques and everything you need to know about pregnancy and giving birth. They’ll help you prepare for the task of having a baby. Support groups for breast feeding mothers are also organized.
Comfortable Surroundings
Homely delivery and waiting rooms with attractive decoration help mothers-to-be feel relaxed and safe. The atmosphere is made as family-friendly as possible, so that the birth can be a special experience for the whole family.

Advice on Breastfeeding
The Styrian Regional hospitals actively promote breastfeeding, even beginning to advise expectant mothers about it in the prenatal courses. The brochure “Advice on Breastfeeding” contains a lot of practical tips that will come in handy when you begin nursing your child.
