Foundation
At that time the Regional Hospitals were removed from the direct administration of the Province of Styria and incorporated as a private company owned 100% by the Province.
With the hiving-off of the Province's hospitals into the Styrian Hospitals Authority, Ltd. (KAGes), one of the largest privately run companies and the largest employer in Styria was established.
Additionally, the Regional & University Hospital in Graz, as a center of research and teaching, is a major training center for prospective doctors.
Organisation
Corresponding to the legal form of a limited-liability company under Austrian law (GmbH), KAGes has the following decision-making organs:
Shareholders' Assembly, Supervisory Board, Management Board. The Minister of Hospitals and Health Services of the Province of Styria, in his function as the owner's representative, embodies the Shareholder's Assembly, thus forming the conecting link between KAGes and the Government of the Province of Styria.
